Daniel Alexander completed a film, tilted Scales of Resistance, which was the output of two years practice based research with Scientists at the University of Nottingham and a 3D visualisation practice called Scan Lab Projects. The scientists have developed medical devices that combat Antibiotic Resistance, and the film developed innovative approaches to visualising antibiotic resistance from the microbial scale to a global scale, utilising scanning electron microscopes, 3D laser scanners, photographs and satellite images, the outcome contextualised and made accessible the scientific research. The film was exhibited at the Royal Society Summer exhibition, a public engagement event with over 14,000 visitors. This research was supported by the LSBU sabbatical scheme and CSNI research funding, as well as funding from the Wellcome Trust and the EPSRC.
