Evan Greally is a creative technologist with a background in digital media, storytelling, and innovation-led public engagement. Evan presents The Talking Tree Project, an interdisciplinary installation that “gives nature a voice” by coupling a locally operated generative AI with more than ten environmental sensors (including wind, temperature, humidity, soil moisture and bioelectric signals). These real-time data streams feed a custom language model running on a Mac mini, fully on-site, offline and battery-powered to minimise environmental impact. Visitors can hold live conversations with the tree, with responses shaped by immediate conditions and the tree’s context.
Evan’s work explores the intersection of AI technology, art, and ecological awareness, creating immersive experiences that provoke reflection and connection. With a focus on socially engaged and sustainable tech, he brings a unique blend of creativity and technical insight to projects across education, art, and environmental advocacy.
