Workshop: Making 3D Objects using Generative AI

 Thursday, 27 November 2025
2:00 — 4:00 pm
XR Studio, The Hub (LH1-35)

Note: For those not familiar with the XR Studio or Hub building, there will be a meeting point at the Rise & Roast café inside the Hub at 2:00 pm, and Kristina will guide the group to the studio.

Kristina Pulejkova
XR Studio Manager

This beginner-friendly, hands-on workshop explores how prompt-based generative AI can be used to create 3D objects and quickly turn them into augmented reality (AR) prototypes. Using the AI tool Luma AI alongside the 3D modelling software Blender, participants will create a small interactive prototype that can be opened on their mobile phones.

The session will look at both the advantages and the limitations of using generative AI for rapid prototyping, and consider how these tools might be applied in teaching, learning, and innovation contexts.

You will learn how to:

  • Use prompt-based generative AI tools to produce 3D objects.
  • Import and refine these objects in Blender.
  • Export your 3D objects as AR prototypes.
  • View and interact with your prototype using your mobile device.

Requirements: Please bring a fully charged mobile phone. No prior experience with Luma AI or Blender is required.
